Brief Bio:

20 years ago I was sequencing and sampling on a Commodore 64, I even used it at a gig, although it took 3 minutes to load each song.

10 years ago I began working in music technology retail, specialising in computer music, right at the start of the computer music revolution.

5 years ago I was part of the team who designed and created the Carillon AC-1 audio computer. Up until the end of 2005 I was responsible for the development of all Carillon systems.

2005/2006 I worked on a number of creative projects; releasing an album of meditation music; working with a theatre company; doing some video editing and producing; updated the PC Music - The Easy Guide book - and these sorts of things continue. See below for more information.

Sept 2006 - Started up Rain Recording Ltd with the help of Bill Paschick, CEO of Rain Recording US, to provide solid, stable, kick arse computer systems to music industry in the UK and Europe.

My Work

My focus recently has been with soundtrack and music for theatre, finding a real interest in dramatic, atmospheric music and sound design. I love the variation in style and genre that this opens up, urging me into all sorts of directions I hadn't considered. I also write songs, books and make films when I can. If you would like to engage me in any sort of creative venture then please get in touch.

Easter Project 2006

On behalf of Themba Theatre depicting the Easter story using movement and dance. The production consisted of 9 short pieces of music describing each scene of Holy Week from the entry into Jerusalem to the resurrection. Each piece was to be only 2 minutes long which is quite a feat when you've spent the last six months creating meditation music where it takes 5 minutes to get past the introduction. Describing these scenes in a couple of minutes of music was a real challenge. Sometimes all I could do was create a mood, in other ones they are more literal sound design - all interesting stuff though :)

The Best Kept Secret

PFC

Penge Family Church decided to create a DVD that would promote the church in the community and also try to get across what Christianity, Jesus and the Gospel is all about. I was involved, along with a small team of dedicated individuals, in every aspect of the filming and production from concept, design, right through to duplication. My main contribution though was the soundtrack.

The DVD is free and if you would like a copy please go to http://www.thebestkeptsecret.info

Here's some of the music from the DVD.

Introduction - Main theme that introduces the film, versions of which give background to the DVD main menu.   pfc intro.mp3

The Gap
As part of the Extras we provided a piece of animation called the "The Gap". It's a cartoon explanation of the Gospel - why Jesus died for us and what that means - in a fun funky way. It's a Quicktime movie of 9MB in size so it may take some time to download.

Themba Facilitate - Ears like Steel and No Soul

When Themba Facilitate first came together they put on a dramatic piece of physical theatre depicting the plight of street children in the Philippines of which Andrea and Ian, the founders, had first hand knowledge. Ears Like Steel and no Soul centred on the story of a group of street kids wrongly accused of murder. The production needed a soundtrack that would emphasise and work with what was happening on stage. Here's some of the 45 minutes worth of music I produced for the show.   Themba
