Coming Soon on PC Music Guru....
Things have been a little bit slow around here over the summer. As we head into the autumn we will be making a renewed effort to keep content fresh and interesting and to bring you our perspective on the world of computer music. We have a bunch of articles and reviews in the pipeline so make sure you follow us on Twitter to get all the latest updates. PC Music Guru is a little bit different to other news and reviews sites. If you're new to it then here's what we're about. We are into gear and making music - that's our starting point. We're not employed by a magazine or at the mercy of advertisers we're independent, opinionated users of the gear we're talking about and who also have regular day jobs. When we review something it gets used in real situations, not just a five minute overview. If we don't like something then we'll be very open with that but also stress that this is our opinion and what we found when we were using the gear - your experience may be different. We write news articles about stuff that interests us - lots of things may pass by. We're also open to contributions from you - if you want to write something about computer music or music technology then send it in and we'll slap it up
Here's what we have coming up over the next couple of months:
Mastering Mastering - Or at least having a go
A look at the mystical world of mastering and my experience of mastering an album for the first time using software plug-ins. Can it be done, should it be done and how did we do it?
Intel Core technology
Intel has released it's latest Core i5 and Core i7 technologies upon us and with the help of Rain Recording we're going to be looking at how this technology can help you with your music making - and actually is it important.
Windows 7 for music
With Vista being largely ignored by the music community can Windows 7 bring us all up to date with a usable, performance driven OS experience?
Native Instruments Komplete Review
As soon as mine turns up I'll be checking it out. http://www.nativeinstruments.com
Cinematique Instruments Review
An interesting selection of sample based instruments for Kontakt that cover an eclectic mix of unique and rare instruments. We'll be giving those a go - http://www.cinematique-instruments.com/ - it's funny, i usually hate it when websites start playing music automatically but on this site it's so chilled i could listen to the loop all day.
T-Racks 3 Review
To tie in with our look at mastering we'll spend a bit more time in the company of IK's T-Racks 3, the latest version of this golden oldie mastering software. http://www.ikmultimedia.com
Future Loops Review
A broad range of fascinating sounds, loops and noises - we'll be checking them out. http://www.futureloops.com
Steinberg CI2 Review
We'd quite like to get our grubby paws on this new little box from Steinberg. It looks like a cool little entry box for people on a budget - worth a look if i can convince them to send me one :) http://www.steinberg.net/en/products/hardware/ci2.html
